9/14（日）、DLスタジオ代々木でダンスクラスを開催します。今回はアイルランドから特別ゲストとしてMaurenn O’Reilly（モーリーン・オライリー）さんが参加。オールドスタイル・ステップダンスの練習会とCDケーリーを開催いたします。

Maureen O’Reillyさんについて
ロングフォード出身、ダブリン在住のモーリーン・オライリーさんは、ウィリー・クランシー・サマースクールのオールドスタイル・ステップダンス・クラスを担当し、月1回、欧米日のダンサーがZoom上で踊るDan Furey International Step Dance Sessionの主催者のひとりです。子どもの頃は競技会スタイルの影響をあまり受けていないオールドスタイルのステップダンスを姉妹と共に踊っていたそうです。大人になってから再び昔ながらのステップダンスをはじめたきっかけは、クレア・ラバシーダ出身のダンシングマスターのダン・フューリー。現在ではダンが教え、マイケル＆セイリーン・タブラディー夫妻が受け継いだステップダンスを後継するという大切な役割を担っています。モーリーンさんはコンサーティーナを演奏し、セットダンスも踊ります。マイケル・タブラディーさんたちと一緒にダブリンの介護施設や病院を訪問し、音楽を演奏するなどのボランティア活動も行っています。そして息子さんはフィドラーとして名高いCaoimhín Ó Raghallaigh（クイヴィーン・オライラ）さん。難しい綴りですが、クイヴィーンは英語の「ケビン」、オライラは「オライリー」です。今年は彼が大阪・関西万博の仕事で来日する機会が多く、息子さんからこの機会に日本に行ってみたら？と勧められたそうです。というわけで今回は観光旅行なのですが、日本のダンサー、ミュージシャンの皆さんとぜひ交流したい！ということで特別クラスを企画してみました。
個人的に私（山下）はオライリーさん一家とは数十年来の知り合いでして、アイルランドに住んでいるときには大変お世話になりました。おもてなしの気持ちを込めて楽しい時間にしたいと考えておりますので、多くの皆さんのご参加をお待ちしております。よろしくお願いいたします。
〜モーリーンさんからのメッセージ〜
My name is Maureen O’Reilly. I live in Dublin, Ireland but I grew up in County Longford which is in central Ireland. I was raised on a farm and I have ten siblings – six brothers and four sisters. All of them are fun to be with and each year we spend a weekend together without partners or spouses!
I learned to dance as a child, and my sisters and I performed regularly at events in the local hall. That was in the 1950s and the style of dance was unaffected by the growing trend of competition and high-stepping. We danced reels, jigs, a hornpipe, The Blackbird and St Patrick’s Day (those are the ones I remember). My parents loved to dance and showed us many two-hand dances for example Shoe the Donkey, the Highland Fling, the Stack of Barley.
In 1991 I attended the Willie Clancy Summer School where Dan Furey and James Keane were teaching the same style of dance that I had learned as a child. For me, that was very exciting because I thought that everyone was now dancing in the modern style like in Riverdance and the dancing competitions. I loved the classes and continued learning from Dan and James, and subsequently from Céline and Michael. I think the dances are beautiful and can be danced by older people as well as by the younger people.
In 2019 I was asked to be part of the dancing team at the Willie Clancy Summer School and I have been teaching there each year since then. I have also given workshops at other events in Ireland and Germany. Professionally, in my working career I was a teacher of children age 5 – 12 so teaching dance is easy for me. I am passionate about preserving and passing on the old dances, together with the culture that goes with them. For instance, the joy of dancing to music played at a normal pace; mixing dance, song, music, story and poetry as was the case in country houses long ago; the lack of competition and the sense of equality among the dancers.
I also play concertina and with others regularly visit hospitals and retirement homes to entertain folks.

オールドスタイル・ステップダンス Old-style Step Dance
マイケル・タブラディーさん著の『Irish Traditional Step Dances』1st & 2nd Editionsのダンスを一緒に踊る予定ですが、今回は最近踊られるようになった「Gortahork Hornpipe」（上記の本には掲載されていません）を特別に教えていただける予定です。このホーンパイプは故セイリーン・タブラディーさんが創作し、夫のマイケルさんやモーリーンさんがリバイバルしたものです。Gortahork（ゴータホーク）はセイリーンさんが生まれたドニゴールの村の名前です。日本で踊られるのはおそらく初めてとなります。
動画の奥で踊っているのがモーリーンさん、中央はマイケルさんです。ダンスはCCÉジャパンのダンスクラスでもお馴染み（10月にはこのダンスを習う初心者向けクラスを開催する予定）の「The Priest & His Boots」です。

靴はかかとに少しだけ高さがあり（ローファー程度）、強い滑り止めが付いていないものがお薦めですが、まずは転びにくい靴を優先してお持ちいただければ大丈夫です。滑り止めがあり少し踊りにくいかもしれませんが、スニーカー等でも構いません。
